The content of the course is composed of the following topics: the importance of renewable (specially focused on geothermal) energy, subsurface temperature and geothermal gradient, formation of geothermal systems, the geothermal conceptual models, classification of geothermal systems, describing the relationships between geothermal systems and geological/tectonic settings (geothermal play types) and structural controls on geothermal systems (based on examples), hydrothermal systems, the geophysical methods that are used in geothermal exploration in regard to the characteristic of geothermal systems, and specifying the exploration techniques, physical parameters of geothermal reservoirs, the enhanced (engineered) geothermal systems and the future of geothermal energy. |
